My Mom grew up in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado. Her Dad-Bob Ross owned and ran the local small grocery store while her Mom-Wanda Ross was a homemaker. Mom was born in Goodland, Kansas as there was no hospital in Cheyenne Wells yet. She was the oldest of 7 and helped out with her younger siblings. Strong family ties with her immediate and extended family is how she was raised along with Catholic values. Mom was attending dental school in Denver, Colorado when she met my Dad, Wayne. They were married in 1968 and had 2 kids that were born in Aurora, Colorado. She was a stay at home Mommy. We lived in various locations as a military family. As Dad finished his military career we returned to Colorado. They divorced in 1988 and Mom never remarried. Mom lived here in Colorado Springs the rest of her life…………
Mom lived her life being the best Mom possible by being supportive, understanding, loving, and caring while providing guidance. She loved my brother, Dennis and I unconditionally with all of her heart her entire life! She was always there for my brother through his ups and downs! And Mom and I over the years became like best friends or sisters. We went on road trips every year exploring new places. We walked our dogs together daily until Mom was not able to do long walks anymore. Mom and I went on day trips on the week-ends including drives into the mountains and short hikes. Even though Mom was more of a homebody and not much of an outdoor person she did these things with me until she was no longer able…………….
Mom’s work life actually started when us kids were in high school. She started out working at a Daycare Center and a few years later got a job as a federal employee at a Child Development Center. She eventually switched career fields and became a secretary. She excelled at what she did and earned several performance awards throughout her career. She became Motherly at her job with her co-workers coming to her for advice and wisdom. She retired in 2015 and returned to her homemaker role.
Mom took suddenly ill in July 2022. For 6½ months her fighting spirit and will to live kept her battling end stage renal failure. She passed away peacefully at her home that she loved so much! And is now with Jesus!
She is survived by her daughter Janet (husband, Robert); and son, Dennis as well as her siblings-Pam (husband, Mike), Candy (husband, Bob), David (wife, Giz), and John (wife, Junko) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her grand furbabies-Maggie, Aspen, Cody, and Shadow. She is preceded in death by her parents-Wanda and Bob; brothers Bill and Bobby.
My Mom has impacted so many friends, co-workers, and family members over the years in various ways. She will be missed but her memory lives on in our hearts!!!!!!!!!!
