Victor Keith Ray, born on October 29, 1943, in Topeka, Kansas, passed away on October 9, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the age of 81. A restless spirit with a passion for adventure, Victor never stayed in one place for long, always eager for the next journey. He had recently moved from his last residence in Topeka, Kansas, to Colorado to be closer to his family for care and support.
Victor proudly served in the United States Navy as a Parachute Rigger, reflecting his commitment and bravery. He was the son of Donald Keith Ray and Theresa Marie Ray (Distefano), both deceased. He is survived by his sister Cathleen Hamilton, half-brother Kyle Ray, half-sister Teri Ray.
A loving father and grandfather, Victor held his children—Keith H. Ray (wife Linda), Kristen L. Cherry (husband John Cherry), and Karin V. Pruett (husband Justin Pruett)—and his seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild close to his heart. His family was a cornerstone of his life, bringing him endless pride and joy.
Victor's love of racing was a defining passion. He followed NASCAR and Formula One with fervor, often reminiscing about the many cars he owned and worked on throughout his life. Beyond racing, Victor was an avid Denver Broncos fan, always eager to discuss the game with family after the game was over. It also depended on whether they won or not. He also found joy in simple pleasures like making pizza and spaghetti with his children which now carry on that legacy. It was important for him that his children expanded upon his recipes and share them with their families. He also had a special fondness for capturing the vibrant beauty of Colorado’s Aspen trees turning in the fall through his photography.
Victor leaves behind a legacy of adventure, family devotion, and an unyielding enthusiasm for life’s passions. His vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
