Virginia was raised in Igloo, South Dakota where she attended school from K-12. During her high school years, she served burgers and sodas at her aunt Kate’s Sugar Shack in Igloo (the local hangout for all the high school kids). She was on the varsity cheerleading squad and a member of the Pep Club. Before school in the morning; she would meet her high school sweetheart, Dennis Turnquist at Docs place and they spent every day together until Dennis joined the U. S. Navy. They were excellent dancers and enjoyed dancing at the Malt Shop in the Community Building and the dances in the Little Gym. They finally married in 1965 and spent the rest of their lives together; Dennis deployed to Viet Nam and many other ports around the world and Virginia (Ginny) stayed home and raised their small children until Dennis was promoted to Chief Recruiter in Colorado Springs. It was then they were able to settle down and raise their family together, which they loved. Family was Ginny’s priority!
She was an avid baseball fan, a great bowler and loved to play any and all board games where she could enjoy all her in-laws and outlaws! And she was an EXCELLENT cook and loved cooking for everyone. She also really enjoyed going to 9494 and for those of you that don’t know what that is; it’s the elevation of Cripple Creek to pull the one-arm bandits!
She was a Wife, a Daughter; a Sister; a Mother; a Grandmother and a Great Great Grandmother who devoted selfless hours for others. She is now resting in the hands of God and we will truly miss her.
