

William "Bill" Jones, age 78 was born September 30, 1946 to John William and Sarah Frances Jones in Memphis, TN. Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968. In 1979, he transferred to Colorado Springs with FedEx where he worked as a Computer Analyst for a total of 35 1/2 years. Bill married Barbara in December, 1983. He participated in a number of volunteer opportunities including teaching Christian Formation, hosting weekly Bible Studies, and working at the Marian House kitchen for the past 17 years. Bill and Barb sponsored A.F.A. Cadets, and welcomed into their home a few foreign exchange students. Bill played the saxophone in Junior High and after a 50 year break went back and again played with the Canyon Winds Band. Bill was an avid movie and western fan; he enjoyed hiking and traveling, and visited most of the MLB stadiums. Bill was a good man with a great sense of humor and quick wit causing others to smile.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his brother Robert "Bob", and his nephews Alex and Paul (Mary).
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 6 at 11:00 am at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Colorado Springs. An inurnment will take place on Monday, September 8 at 10:00 at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN or to the Marian House in Colorado Springs.
