

William Oliver Mason passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 8, 2016, in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the age of 94.
William was born December 18, 1921, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Helen and Oliver Mason. He graduated from high school in 1939 in Pittsburgh. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1941 and was assigned to Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, CO. He was stationed in India, New York, Korea, Florida, Kansas, and Germany. In 1962, upon returning to the United States, he served as administrative superintendent in the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Headquarters North American Air Defense Command (NORAD), Ent AFB. Throughout his military career William earned numerous medals to include, the Legion of Merit Medal, Bronze Star Medal, and Joint Service Commendation Medal. William retired in 1970 with the rank of Senior Chief Master Sergeant.
William was an avid gardener, woodworker, and enjoyed frequent trips to Las Vegas. He was also a dedicated Broncos fan and loved entertaining,
William was preceded in death by his wife Georgia Mason, a sister Mildred, two brothers Howard and James, and a son Kenneth.
William is survived by four children, Eileen (Steven) Steinfeldt, Barbara (Stephen) Vincent, Douglas (Tricia) Mason, and Terri Mason. He also is survived by three grandchildren, five great grandchildren and numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.
