

Preceded in death by her husband Arthur Garnett; sister, Annie Lee Benjamin; and brother Kermit George Anderson, she leaves behind to cherish her loving memory: son, Gregory Shawn Garnett; grandchildren: Jennaya Lynn Colons; Dinae Solis; Deja Dinae Garnett; Gregory Shawn Garnett Jr.; Joseph Arthur Garnett, and a great grandson, Kymani Colons. Nieces: Betty Louise Elston, Carrie Marie Atkinson; Willa Ann Brown (deceased). Nephews: Willie Earl Jones; James Clifford Jones; Wardell Benjamin; Donald Ray Anderson (deceased), and Jimmie Earl Anderson. Great Niece: Charla C. Anderson. There are also sixteen great nieces/nephews and forty-five great, great nieces/nephews.
Uniting with Israelite Church of God In Christ in 1972, she served as President of a youth group, the “Sunshine Band”, for many years. Under her tutelage her son and nephews: Kevin Dante Davis and Tacorey Lowell Singleton participated and were faithful members of the “Sunshine Band”. Mrs. Garnett loved children. So she developed a passion for the “Sunshine Band.” An active member of the Israelite Church of God in Christ, Mrs. Garnett is recognized as one of the Mothers of the church. Faithfully attending prayer sessions until her health failed, Mrs. Garnett also served on the Prayer Team, Sick Committee, and Usher Board at the Israelite Church of God In Christ.
She enjoyed cooking, college football, boxing, CNN, and MSNBC news channels. In life she worked as a caregiver and volunteered as an Election Day poll worker.
Raised in Roswell, New Mexico Mrs. Garnett moved to Colorado Springs, CO in 1970 with her husband, who was stationed at NORAD. Throughout his military career she traveled to many states and countries.
Mrs. Garnett, a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend is loved by many. She will be missed. We celebrate her life and treasure the wonderful memories we have of her.
