Yvonne Pope Robson passed into eternity to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on November 9, 2014 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Born June 29, 1941 in Billings, Montana, Yvonne was the middle of three daughters born to Phillip and Betty Hilderman Pope. The Pope family farmed in Park City, Custer and Billings. After graduating from Billings Senior High in 1959, Yvonne met the love of her life, David Albert Robson and they married on March 26, 1960. Their love and devotion lasted more than 54 years and blessed them with two children, Eugene David Robson and Susan Robson Cenusa, and four grandchildren, Zachariah, Abigail, Jackson and Hannah.
As we poured over 73 years of memories, we were amazed at the range of accomplishments, adventures, and resourcefulness throughout her lifetime.Growing up on a farm, she developed a tremendous work ethic early on as she participated in every aspect of farming: 4-H, tending livestock, operating tractors and trucks, as well as planting, irrigating and harvesting crops. She poured her whole heart and soul into everything she did, from being an amazing wife and mother, to exceling in dozens of professions, owning several businesses, and touching countless lives in the process. Her favorite saying was “I have the simplest of taste, I only want the best” and she gave the very best of her life, love and leadership to her family, friends and clients.
In 1962, they moved from Billings to Fresno, California so Dave could finish college only a month after their son Davy was born. As a young wife and homemaker, she supported her husband by helping with his homework while he worked and studied full time, blessing him with a beautiful daughter, Susan in 1963. In addition, Yvonne served in several capacities in their church including Children’s Christian Education Director.
In 1970, they moved back to Billings, MT to be closer to family and help Yvonne’s parents with the farm. As her children got older, Yvonne took on several part-time jobs in tax preparation and retail sales which began a long career in the fashion industry. She worked for several department stores falling in love with the “downtown scene” and in 1991, she opened her own women’s clothing store, Pretty Women, in downtown Billings, which she ran for 10 years. It was in pure pleasure that she helped women dress for such elegant occasions as weddings, Governor and Presidential Balls, and other special events. She loved traveling to markets in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Las Vegas to choose very personal selections for her clients.
In 2001, Yvonne and Dave moved to Colorado Springs to be near their daughter and grandchildren. Yvonne transitioned from fashion sales into new home sales, later gaining her real estate license and earning several awards. Helping people with such big decisions as a home was a joy for her and she poured into each family she served.
Together, Yvonne and David formed a wonderful team and could tackle just about anything. In addition to owning Pretty Women, they opened the Academy of Gymnastics for their children, later put them through college, built their own in ground swimming pool, water and snow skied, snowmobiled, camped and traveled the country, owned and flew their own airplane, renovated many houses, started Honey-Do Services and devoted their lives to their family. Yvonne’s legacy is reflected in her children and grandchildren, who love the Lord and serve Him humbly, the way she loved them. Yvonne was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother Daniel and is survived by her husband, children, daughter-in-law Sue Krauser Robson and grandchildren as well as her sisters Carolyn Granner (husband Ralph), and Phyllis Lowe, niece Deborah Granner, and nephews Joseph Kolman and Phillip Granner.
