She was born December 7, 1958 in Birmingham, Alabama. She graduated from high school early, and worked her way from Alabama to Southern California. There, she ultimately took a position as a Unit Clerk with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services.
During her time with Los Angeles County she quickly advanced from the position of Unit Clerk and moved into management. She freely volunteered her time and energy to enhance the work environment and boost the morale of her fellow employees. Wherever there was a happy gathering, it was natural to find Annie at the center of the group, making it all happen.
One of her favorite hobbies was photography. She was infamous as the “mamma-razzi,” as she perfected the art of creating carefully posed photos that seemed natural, and spontaneous photos that captured life in all it's fluid glory. As she got older, her favorite hobby became Twitter. One day, she decided that she could go from having zero followers to tens of thousands. At the time of her passing, she had nearly 70,000 people who followed her life and musings.
She is survived by her husband, Allan Gabston-Howell, of Grand Terrace, and six children: Mattie Sheherrazzade Jetté, Janette Marie Howell, Kathrynn Nicole Howell, Phillip Gregory Howell, Mary Anyanwu Gabston-Howell, and Madoc Gabston-Howell. She has two remaining siblings: her brother, James Blue, and sister, Mattie Blue Frazier. We all miss her very much.
