

Artemio (Temo) Gonzales Alvarez was born on March 9, 1941 to Catalina G. Alvarez (deceased) and Jesus V. Alvarez (deceased) in San Antonio, Texas. He had 2 siblings, Alicia Alvarez Sanchez (Deceased) and Jesus Alvarez (90 years old). He attended and graduated from Fox Tech High School in 1959. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on July 20, 1959. He was stationed at Vandenburg Air Force Base from September 1959 – September 1961, where he had some of his best times and memories! He was also stationed in Thule, Greenland from September 1961 – January 1962. Then was stationed in Yuma Air Force Base from January 1962 – March 1962. While in the Air Force, he specialized in Heating and Air Conditioning Services. He was honorably discharged on March 15, 1963. After being discharged, he relocated back to San Antonio.
He married Beatrice Carlin Alvarez (Deceased) on September 2nd 1964. Beatrice was killed in an auto accident on December 26th, 1964.
He met Mary Otero and they had three children together, Joe Albert Alvarez (Deceased), Diana Alvarez (52) and Katherine Alvarez (51).
He met the love of his life Maria Elena Guizar de Alvarez (75) and were married in Los Angeles on July 31, 1976. They had two daughters, Janet Alvarez Flores (49) and Elizabeth Torres (44).
He received his Associates Degree in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning from Los Angeles Trade Tech on June 14th, 1973.
He worked for Rand Corporation from September 1973 to 1976.
He worked for the Los Angeles County for 28 years. He retired in March 2007.
He has 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Artemio Gonzales Alvarez passed away at Loma Linda University Medical center in Loma Linda, CA on July 14, 1941.
He loved life. Family, faith, and love were important to him and celebrations were always a must for birthdays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. He loved to be surrounded by family and laughter. He always made sure that those who were important to him, knew they were loved. He genuinely cared for people and was never too shy to celebrate and acknowledge the successes and triumphs of others. Artemio Alvarez was a wonderful Dad, Husband, Grandfather, Uncle, brother, and friend. His life will forever be remembered with fond and lasting memories.
