Bau Thi Truong is a true legend and had touched many that knew her. She was a very humble, strong hard-working, selfless, loving woman born in Lịch Hội Thượng, Vietnam on February 14, 1940. Originated from a traditional Vietnamese & Chinese family, she married her husband, Phat Van Nguyen at the tender age of 18. At an early age, she took on many roles as a homemaker, care-taker to her father and mother in law, hard-working mother, and entrepreneur while her husband was working as a fisherman out at sea for long periods of time.
She had many passions which she does exceedingly well. Fishing, gardening, as well as cooking and baking. She was the kind of woman that loves to share her passions with everyone. Whatever she caught, planted, grew, or whipped up in her kitchen, she made sure her family was well taken care of, as well as the elders and children in her village that was less fortunate. Giving back and bringing joy to all with her creations was her true passion in life.
In 1980, Bau's family, including the grandparents immigrated to the United States in order to proceed a better life. Only 3 of her 4 kids were applicable during that time; 2nd daughter Kathy Thu Nguyen, predeceased by her son Johnny Ngoc Nguyen, and son Kenny Kiet Nguyen. The eldest daughter, Men Thi Nguyen and her own family reunited with rest of the family in the U.S. in 1991. Bau is also survived by two more daughters, which she had in her later years in the U.S.; Marcelle Nguyen and Jeanette Nguyen.
She was a devoted wife to her husband, beloved mother to 5 children, 1 predeceased son, grandma to 11 grandchildren, 1 predeceased grandchild, and great grandma to 12 great grandchildren.
Bau had truly build a legacy in her lifetime. One filled with love, compassion, strong values, morals, and strength. We will miss her warm touch, her kind gestures, her sweet words, and her laugh. Though she is no longer physically here, she will forever live on in our hearts.
