Bernadette Theresa Simpson, 73, passed away on May 30, 2026. She was born in Los Angeles, CA and was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose love and faith touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
On September 10, 1977, she married the love of her life, Rudy Chavez Simpson, and together they built a life centered around faith, family, and unwavering devotion to one another. Though Rudy passed away in 2018, Bernadette carried his love with her every day and looked forward to the day they would be reunited.
Bernadette is survived by her sister, Brenda Brown, and her brother, Jonathan Brown; her sons, Rudy Chavez Simpson II (Renee Simpson) and Christopher Eugene Simpson (Kerra Simpson); her beloved grandchildren, Jaden Christopher Simpson, Genesis Reign Simpson, Blaize Christian Simpson, and Kezia Kali Simpson. She also leaves behind beautiful nieces, extended family members, and dear friends who were blessed by her kindness, generosity, and prayers.
Bernadette worried about everyone—but only because she cared so deeply. She was the person who remembered the details, checked in when something didn’t feel right, and carried the burdens of those she loved as if they were her own. She found joy in caring for others and made sure everyone around her felt seen, loved, and supported.
For the last several years, Bernadette divided her time between her home and the homes of her family, helping wherever she was needed.
Bernadette was also a faithful prayer warrior. Through life’s hardest seasons and greatest blessings, she could often be found on her knees praying fiercely for her family. She offered wisdom, encouragement, and unwavering faith, reminding those around her that God would carry them through whatever lay ahead. The days were often long, but the years felt short, and together she found strength in prayer and hope.
Above all else, Bernadette loved her family. She cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments, cheering them on from the sidelines, and creating traditions that brought everyone together. Her love was steady, sacrificial, and unconditional.
Bernadette had a beautiful way of making people feel at home. She offered comfort without hesitation, friendship without condition, and love without limits. Her legacy lives on in the faith she shared, the family she nurtured, and the countless lives she touched.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
May the prayers she prayed over her family continue to echo through generations, and may those who loved her find comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with the love of her life, resting in the presence of the Lord she served so faithfully.
