

Born on August 1, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, Beverly spent her early childhood in Wyandotte, MI before briefly relocating with her family to Arizona in 1947, eventually settling in Southern California, where she would spend most of her life.
A graduate of Colton Union High School, Beverly pursued further education at San Bernardino Valley College and later attended Skadron Business College in 1959. There, she met her first husband, Bernard (Bernie) Burke, with whom she had two sons (John and David).
Beverly began her career working for the County of San Bernardino, rising from a Clerk I to Secretary to the Executive Assistant of the Road Department. She later joined Whittaker Electric Company, working alongside her second husband, Cecil Whittaker, whom she married on January 27, 1968. Together, they had two daughters (Launa and Marla).
In 1980, Beverly and her family relocated to Spring Valley Lake in Victorville, California where she enjoyed boating, sewing and reading. After Cecil’s passing in 1989, Beverly resumed her professional life as an accountant before retiring and moving to Las Vegas in 2012.
Known for her resilience, intelligence, graceful and poised presence, and unwavering attention to grammar, she left a lasting legacy of laughter through her sharp wit and humor.
Beverly is survived by her children David Burke of Potsdam, NY, Launa Barbosa (“favorite son-in-law” Tom), and Marla Whittaker, all of Las Vegas, NV; her three stepchildren Gwynne Cirivello, Larry Whittaker (Candy), Dianne Lonergan (Jimmy); her three grandchildren, Casandra Quintana (Claudio), Megan Burke, and Kaitlin Spurr (Ian); her three great-grandchildren, Aurelia and Luana Quintana, and Elizabeth Spurr; her brothers, David Pete (Bernadine) of Redmond, OR, and V.J. “Buddy” Pete (Jan) of San Diego, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil C. Whittaker; her parents, Verdon J. and Rita Pete; her son, John J. Burke; daughter-in-law, Ilene Burke and Stepson-in-law, Vic Cirivello.
A memorial service will be held on June 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Montecito Memorial Park & Mortuary in the Cypress Chapel, located at 24145 Barton Rd, Loma Linda, CA 92354. Graveside committal will follow at 12:30 PM at 3520 E Washington St, Colton, CA 92324.
