Brent Richard Belicki, age 59, passed away on May 4, 2026.
Born on April 3, 1967, in San Bernardino, California, Brent
was preceded in death by his father, Richard Aloysius Belicki,
his mother, Carole Cato, and his stepfather, Phil Cato Jr.
Brent is survived by brother Mike; sister-in-law Michelle;
sister Christy; nephews Ryan, David, and Justin; great-nieces
and great-nephews RaeLynn, James, Jackson, and Amelia; aunt
Beverly; and cousin Keith. Brent will be deeply missed by
family, friends, neighbors and colleagues.
Brent attended Davidson Elementary School and Arrowview
Junior High School before graduating from Cajon High
School. He later earned an associate degree from Riverside
City College and a Bachelor of Science in Management
Information Systems from California State University, Long
Beach.
A career in information technology and business systems
followed, including roles in IT help desk support, database
analysis, application services, and logistics. Brent’s natural
aptitude for technology and problem-solving was evident
throughout his life. He is fondly remembered by colleagues at
Imperial Valley College, where he built lasting friendships and
found fulfilling work.
From an early age, Brent was fascinated by mechanical and
electrical systems. As a child, he could take apart a record
player, repair it, and reassemble it successfully. His interest in
computer science began in junior high school, when he saved
his allowance to purchase a Commodore VIC-20 computer and
taught himself to code, laying the foundation for a lifelong
passion for technology.
Brent was also a talented musician. He played clarinet in his
elementary and junior high school bands, and his love of music
continued throughout his life. He especially enjoyed smooth
jazz and the expressive sound of the saxophone.
One of Brent’s greatest joys was spending time with animals.
As a boy, he delighted in being pulled down the street on his
skateboard by the family dog, Sherlock, a sweet and
mischievous basset hound. Although he loved all animals,
Brent held a special affection for cats. Neighbors often recall
seeing him walking through the neighborhood with his cat,
Taffy, faithfully at his side like a dog—never needing a leash.
Brent will be remembered for his intelligence, kindness, and
gentle spirit. A lifelong love of learning, technology, music,
animals, family, friends, and colleagues leaves a lasting legacy.
A celebration of Brent’s life will start with a reception at 11:00
a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Cypress Chapel,
Montecito Memorial Park, 24145 Barton Road, Loma Linda,
California 92354, followed by a Chapel service at 1 PM and
committal at 2:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests considering a donation
in Brent’s memory to the Humane Society of Imperial County,
1575 W. Pico Ave.
