Bye for now, Dad…… I know we will see you again, but my heart 💔hurts now. You made the world better wherever you were, and I learned so much from you. Starting with me trying to get “common sense” when I was 5. Learning to ride my baby blue sting ray without training wheels. How to eat a pepper without burning my mouth at Chris & Pitts. How to do laundry & fold clothes with you. How to enjoy baseball & boxing & wrestling on TV with you. How to have fun & be spontaneous! Playing basketball with you at the park on a random Sunday. Going to church with you & mom & going on hikes after church, or just taking a nap. I will never forget how you said “let’s go” with that twinkle in your eye & big smile and the knowing that wherever we went, it would be fun. How to just take a drive for the sight-seeing fun of it. How to love Saturday nights by the fireplace watching Ed Sullivan & Red Skelton & Sonny & Cher show. How to sing Handel’s Messiah and all the songs by the New Christy Minstrels. How to dance to any music. How to love animals. How to try to talk your way out of a speeding ticket. 😆 How to be on time. How to work hard & play harder. For our family vacations every year & showing us how to have fun even when the car breaks down in the middle of the desert on a road trip. So many more happy memories- that I carry inside of me. I learned most of all, how to truly love 💕 even when life isn’t perfect. For that, I say Thank you, Thank you, Thank you -and thank you most of all for being my dad.
