CHARLES LEON SAMS SR.

Charles Leon Sams Sr. entered into eternal rest on November 26th, 2013 at his home in Rialto, California. Charles was born August 11th, 1945 to the late Harvey and Ardelia (Rogers) Sams in Brookshire, Texas, the youngest of 5 children. He graduated from Ralph J. Bunch High School in 1962, Brookshire Texas.

Charles served in the United States Navy in both foreign and sea service; earning a National Defense Service Medal during his service years. His last duty assignment and major command was with the USS Hunterdon County with an Honorable Discharge in 1967. He met his beautiful bride in April 1977, Carol Ann (Cummings) Sams, in San Bernardino California they married on July 11th, 1978 in San Bernardino, California.

Charles is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Sams; daughters, Tamara Sams of Rancho Cucamonga CA and Natasha (Loren) Saucier of Fontana CA, Theandrea Sams of Riverside CA and Erica Sams-Shorts of Rancho Cucamonga CA, Shaana Sams of Riverside CA and Adrienne Sams of Colton CA, Joan Hall of Patterson TX, Eleanor “Peanut” Mitchell of Houston TX, Chris Abernathy of Houston TX, Ursula Kendrick of Texas; sons, Charles Leon (Nancy) Sams Jr. of Las Vegas CA, Douglas Brandyburg (deceased) of Sealy TX; 35 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Harvey Etta Scott of Rialto CA and Vivian Grace Sams of Brookshire TX; brother, Alfred Sams of San Bernardino CA and a host of relatives and friends . Charles was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Harold Sams, son, Douglas Brandyburg and grandson Zalen Xavier Sams.

Sunday December 8th, 2013 family visitation starts at 3:00 pm and public visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary (Valley View Chapel) 3520 E. Washington St. Colton CA 92324.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 9th, 2013 at Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary(Valley View Chapel) at 9:30 am with Elder William Cummings officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside CA.
