Christine Veronica Flores, age 76, died on October 2, surrounded by family in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. She was born on July 30, 1948 in London, England, to her mother, Elina Letizia Mascolo, and father, John Aloysius Enright. She immigrated to the United States in 1968. She is survived by her daughter Christy and her husband, Carlos Tovares; daughter Karla and her husband, John Bettencourt; and grandchildren Julia Noelle Bettencourt; Colleen and her husband Rick Lund; and JP Bettencourt and his wife Lindsay and their child, Charlotte.
Christine dedicated her life to helping others and as an immigrant, took a special interest in reaching out to immigrant communities—especially the Latino community. Along with her devoted husband, Tomas Aguilera Flores, she helped found and direct Bilingual Family Counseling Services in Ontario, California. Next, she joined the Chaffey College faculty as a counselor and later Director of EOPS. As a passionate advocate for all students, her mission was to support and guide them toward academic and personal success. She relished her time at Chaffey and developed life-long friendships with many colleagues which extended well beyond her retirement in 2011.
Christine loved her family deeply, attested by her devotion as caregiver to both her husband and youngest grandchild, Julia. Known for her authentic and rebellious spirit, Christine had particular soft-spots for USC Football, Law and Order, the Beatles, tea, and Cadbury chocolates. Her generosity, thoughtfulness, and humor will be missed tremendously.
A 9am Rosary and 10am Funeral Mass will be offered in her honor at Our Lady Queen of Peace’s All Soul’s Chapel on Wednesday, October 16th at 3520 E. Washington Street, Colton, CA. The family asks that prayers and masses be offered for their beloved, Christine Flores.
