David was a one-of-a-kind soul—pure, rare, & unforgettable. From the very beginning, he carried an old soul & a joyful heart, filling every space he entered with warmth, laughter, & vibrant personality. He was the most giving & gentle person, always offering his time, love, & kindness without hesitation. To know him was to be truly cared for.
His heart was rooted at the Weber Ranch, where childhood memories ran wild. Whether he was chasing or being chased, running barefoot in his underwear with cousins in tow, playing cops & robbers, or dodging imaginary bears on his way to the bus he lived fully, freely, & always with a grin. But the Weber ranch for him wasn’t just that it was the warmth of Nana’s cooking and his Nana’s Gentle Love. He absolutely adored her. He loved her homemade cooking, never missing a chance to enjoy her famous waffles, biscuits & gravy, or papas con chorizo.
From a young age, David shared a beautiful bond with his mother, Bobbie Jo. Every weekend, you could find them together antiquing, yard sale hunting, treasure-seeking. They were partners who shared the love for the old, the rare, & the beautiful. Their adventures eventually led to their creations that became an award-winning store (three sisters). David had an eye for the unique Treasures. David always had a plan that involved growing old side by side with his mother, Bobbie Jo. Their bond was something rare & unshakable. Built on years of shared adventures, quiet moments, & inside jokes. He loved calling her “Mama Jo,” always with a grin, finding it hilarious every single time. To David, she wasn’t just his mom, she was his best friend, his partner-in-crime, & the person he pictured by his side for the rest of his life.
At home, David was the playful mischief-maker, always finding ways to make his younger sisters, Bailey, Alice, and Maggie, laugh with his pranks & silly antics. But beyond the laughter, he was the kind of big brother who showed up in every way, cheering them on in their victories, guarding their hearts in hard times, & loving them without limits. David was more than just their brother he was their protector, confidant, & greatest friend. Always ready with kindness & laughter.
He cherished his time with his niece, June, & nephew, Henry, even if their time together was far too short. He loved playing, feeding, & just being present with them. his pride & joy in his role as “Uncle Day Day” was clear in every hug & every giggle.
His curiosity & love for nature bloomed early thanks to his Gramps “Dave Weber” with whom he learned to plant & graft trees. By 14, David was teaching himself everything he could about horticulture, pouring his heart into every seed & sprout, & becoming an entrepreneur with his passion.
David’s spirit truly came alive during the holidays. Dressed as Santa Claus each Christmas, he didn’t just wear a costume, he became the magic. That love for laughter and joy turned into a business that allowed him to spread smiles to countless children & families. Costumes weren’t just outfits to him, they were ways to connect, entertain, & uplift.
David was blessed with a beautiful life, surrounded by his chosen family, a close circle of friends who filled his days with laughter, love, & unwavering support. With these cherished souls, he created a lifetime of unforgettable memories and meaningful connections that spanned from Hillcrest to Seattle. Their friendship brought him joy, acceptance, & a sense of belonging that deeply enriched his world and theirs.
He also had a deep love for traveling always eager to explore new places, meet new people, & uncover the hidden beauty in the world around him. Whether on the road or at home, David lived with a sense of adventure and wonder that made every day feel special.
At a young age, David followed his love for nature & service by becoming a park assistant at Silverwood Lake. His first step into a path that reflected his deep connection to the outdoors. He later continued his journey in the towering beauty of Humboldt State Park, where his passion only grew stronger. Eventually, his calling led him to San Diego, where he proudly served as a city park ranger, protecting and preserving the spaces he loved so much. But David’s heart always belonged to where it all began. About two years ago, he came back home to the ranch in summit valley & then found his way back home to Silverwood Lake, returning to the place that shaped him. It was there, surrounded by the land he loved most, that his journey came full circle a quiet, powerful return to the roots of his story.
David Zackery, has now joined his beloved Gramps & his sweet Grandma Sherry in heaven
