Doris I. Hodge

Doris Ione Hodge, age 95, a resident of Redlands California passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023. She was born August 8, 1927, in Retirement, Jamaica. Doris is pre-deceased by her son-in-law Pastor Milton Mahabee and survived by her husband Pastor I. B. Hodge, her children, Linda Mahabee, Tony Hilton, Neville Hodge, and Jaqueline Lynton [spouse Ian Lynton]. Her loving grandchildren are Daniel Mahabee [spouse Lenrica Mahabee], Mellissa Mahabee, Antoinette Hilton, Nya Lynton, and K’Vaughn Lynton. Her sweet great-grandchildren are Nuri and Hansel Mahabee.

Doris received her Associate’s in Theology at West Indies College and served in the mission field as a Bible Worker and an administrative secretary for various Seventh-Day Adventist organizations in the Caribbean. In 1952, she married the love of her life, Pastor Isidore Hodge in Jamaica. They were married for 70 years prior to her passing.

Doris enjoyed playing the piano and singing, baking bread, and sewing clothes for her family. She was involved in teaching various cooking classes to promote health and wellness in the church community. Doris also enjoyed nature and small animals, especially cats and chickens. Her favorite flowers were peonies, dahlias, and roses.

Her memorial service will be held Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 2:00 pm PST in room 1402 at Loma Linda University Church. In lieu of giving flowers, the family requests that those who are able to make donations to Isidore Hodge’s home care.
