Our beloved Dorothy Hayden passed away Friday, September 23, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born on February 15, 1927 in Salineville, Ohio to Henry Temme and Rella Bray Temme. She grew up in Ohio and moved to San Bernardino with her family in 1942. She graduated in 1945 from San Bernardino High School where she played first clarinet in the band and orchestra. In 1947 she married the love of her life Kermit Hayden and they celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in January 2022.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was fearless and excelled in boating, hunting, and all things family including being a great cook. Upon Kermit’s retirement, her greatest pleasure was travel. They travelled all 50 states and the world to six out of the seven continents including places like the Caribbean, Australia, Fuji, Africa, Russia, Scandinavia, Italy, Spain, Greece, China among others.
She is survived by her husband Kermit L. Hayden, daughter and son-in-law, Connie & Loren Young, two grandchildren, Lisa and Gregory Young and many nieces and nephews. Her son, Kermit Lyle Hayden II preceded her in death.
A funeral service for Dorothy will be held Monday, October 17, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at The Cypress Chapel 24145 Barton Road, Loma Linda CA 92354. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Montecito Memorial Park, 3520 E Washington St, Colton, CA 92324.
