Dowayne C. Bockmann, 89, of Redlands, California, entered his eternal rest on November 1, 2025. He was born in Osceola, Wisconsin, on July 6, 1936, and moved with his family to Visalia, California, in 1942, where he was raised.
Dowayne proudly served his country in the United States Army before beginning a long and accomplished career in construction. For 46 years, he worked for Yeager Construction and later Skanska Construction Company, where he served as a Senior Estimator. His strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to teach others left a lasting impression on many throughout the industry.
A man of deep faith, Dowayne loved God and was passionate about music and worship. He enjoyed singing and leading the church choir, using his voice to bless others and glorify the Lord.
He was married to the love of his life, Donia Bockmann, who preceded him in death. Together they shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and faith.
Dowayne loved music, playing golf, and spending time with family. He especially cherished his grandchildren, and could always be found enjoying tacos, In-N-Out, or sharing one of his trademark dad jokes. Those who knew him will remember his laughter, kindness, and joyful spirit. He was a hard worker who took pride in providing the very best for his family and helping others along the way.
He is survived by his three sons, Daniel Dowayne Bockmann Johnson, Jack Johnson, and Brett Bockmann; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Judy Brumley and Ilene Buckner; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Donia Bockmann, his parents Claus and Luella (Dale) Bockmann, and his brother Gene Bockmann.
Dowayne’s life was one marked by faith, family, and a joyful heart. His memory will live on in the laughter, love, and music he shared with all who knew him.
A celebration of life for Dowayne will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3520 E Washington St, Colton, CA 92324. Following the celebration of life will be a committal service from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Montecito Memorial Park, 3520 E Washington St, Colton, CA 92324.
