Elsie met her future husband Edward in 1952 and they married on June 7, 1953. Their daughter Christine was born in 1954 followed by Elsie (Lee) in 1957. Elsie was a cosmetologist until she married and then became a homemaker raising Chris and Lee.
She and Ed moved to California in 1981 to follow Chris and Lee who had journeyed to Redlands in 1978. Initially, Elsie and Ed lived in Hemet and Oceanside and eventually settled in Redlands in 1984.
Family was very important to Elsie and she loved spending time with them. She and Ed enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed family vacations. With the marriage of Chris and Howard Morris in 1984, Elsie was overjoyed to add to the family. Her life was further enriched with the birth of her grandson, Christian Edward Morris in 1992. In 2002, the family was further enlarged when Lee and Michael Alhorn married. In 2018, Christian married Jocelyn Waner and in June 2021, she was blessed when her first great granddaughter, Olivia, was born. Elsie and Olivia had a special bond and they enjoyed spending time together. Olivia truly brought much joy to Elsie especially toward the end of her life. In August 2024, Elsie’s great grandson, Christopher, was born further adding to her family and bringing much happiness. She always loved seeing his sweet smile.
Elsie’s lifelong faith and commitment to God was evident in the way she lived her life. Her devotion to family, care and concern for others, and generosity to those in need were the quiet ways she lived out her faith.
