Emanuel Lee Smith, age 93, of Highland, California, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on January 22, 1932, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Smitty was the beloved only son of William and Sarah Smith. He grew up in Tennessee before proudly serving 20 years in the United States Air Force, followed by 20 years with the Redlands Police Department, where he worked in forensic photography. After retirement from the Redlands Police Department, Smitty worked at California Pawn Shop for 10 years for enjoyment.
Smitty will be remembered for his kindness, his strong yet gentle spirit, and his unwavering dedication and love to his wife and family. He found joy in reading, listening to jazz, and exploring the latest technology.
Smitty is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara Arnold-Smith; his children, Rick Arnold, Michael Arnold, Kitty Arnold, John Arnold, and Debbie Arnold-Webb; 23 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Sarah Smith, and his son, Marcus Arnold.
A viewing and funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025. The viewing will be from noon to 1:00 p.m following the service at 1:00 p.m. at Montecito, with burial to follow. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Smitty’s life.
