Rico was born October 21, 1963 to Teodosio G. Mallari & Teresita C. Lacsamana Mallari in Manila, Philippines. He has an older sister, Maria Amarna, and a younger brother, Wilbert.
At age 19, Rico met the love of his life, Gloria, at a shopping mall. They were married on December 10,1989 at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception; with the reception at the Manila Hotel in Intramuros, Manila. Rico & Glo went on to raise two daughters, Pauline & Gwyneth.
After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Rico started working at Coca-Cola as the District Sales Manager. When he relocated to California in 1996, he worked for the City of Ontario, Finance Department until his retirement.
In 2021, Rico retired and spent most of his days taking care of his family and fixing up the house. He enjoyed planning family vacations, taking photos, singing along (even when he didn’t know the lyrics), dancing, and playing jokes on his two daughters. He was often the taste tester for his daughter’s creations. He was always smiling and laughing even when he didn’t get the joke or the plot of the movie.
While Rico held many titles, his favorite role was being Dad. He loved nothing more than spending his time with his family. He was always there for them–whether driving them to appointments, helping with tax returns, or taking out the trash. He was a caring and patient husband/father who spent his last days surrounded by the people he loved most. He will be most remembered by his family and friends for his constant warm smile, kindness, and thoughtfulness.
Emerico is survived by his wife, Glo, and daughters, Pauline and Gwen.
