The sun rose for Ester Ray Potts-Ross pm October 09, 1948, in Los Angeles, California to the proud parents of Arvert Alexander Potts and Doris Jean Newman. Ester is the third child to this union. Ester was affectionately known as “Blackee or Ester Ray” but better known by her brothers as babysista.
Ester began her education years in Los Angeles, CA where she attended Main St. Elementary School, Jefferson Junior High and Manuel Arts High School. Ester Ray continued her education where she received an AA degree in computer and a Paralegal certificate. Ester excelled throughout school and life with ease and this was she had an unconditional love with the Lord. Ester accomplished so much in her life, she sang with a number of famous people. Ester was a joy to so many and took pride in what she did for all that she met.
Ester Ray met and married Arthur Lee Minor Jr. and to this union 4 sons were born; Arthur Minor III, Aaron Minor, Andre Minor and Arvert (Angel). Ester then met and married Brandford Hopkins and to this union 1 son was born: Brandford Hopkins Jr. ester Ray Then met and married Curtis N. Ross where there were no children to this union they later divorced.
Ester Ray was good, kind, respectable and a loving person as a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, godmother, and friend. She as a full of joy and laugher, fun and endurance. She was very devoted to the Lord, her children; if you belong to her, she made sure you were taken care of.
Ester Ray loved life, she shared the joys and sorrows of life with large gatherings of family and friends, and she surely love to sing, direct and play the piano for the Lord. There is nothing ester did not know, or could not fix… ester ray was a renaissance woman (a Jackie of all trades). Ester knew what to do, and taught others how to get the job done. Ester made sure to tell everyone she met, about the goodness of the Lord. Ester is and was not just a mother of her 5 sons, but a mother the community. All the children and adults respected who ester was and what she gave to the world. Ester created many things, and made sure that her love for Jesus was front and center in all she did. Ester started with the 12 Step Program, Youth with Goals, the floats of all the parades, and was the creator of the auxiliary for the youth camping trips.
Ester was a championship bowler and if you knew her, you knew she loved the lanes. Ester brought her love for the lanes, and involved the church in bowling tournaments. Ester showed them that winning in the Lord was even more fun than winning a 1st place trophy. Ester would say that it is all about her babies for they are our future. If you ever were in trouble, down and out, had a bad kid (laugh), no really… anything at all you knew to call ester. No matter the time or the place, she was the one that would lend the helping hand, a true servant of the Lord. There is NO scroll list long enough to list all of her accomplishments and good works. Ester Ray the Virtuous Woman of God will truly be missed.
