Fernando De La Merced

Fernando De La Merced, also known as “Boyet,” passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on July 14, 1965, in the Philippines, Fernando lived a life filled with love, laughter, determination, and devotion to his family.

Boyet was the seventh of eight siblings born to Alberto Sr. and Violeta De La Merced. In 1971, he immigrated to the United States with his family, where he built a life defined by hard work, resilience, and compassion.

He proudly dedicated his career to serving the people of California through his work with the California Department of Insurance. Known for his integrity, professionalism, and commitment to public service, he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

Above all, Boyet was a loving and devoted father. His two children, Breanna and Madison, were the center of his world. He adored them beyond measure and took immense pride in the remarkable adults they have become. His love, guidance, and unwavering support will remain with them always.

Boyet embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. He loved fishing, cherished family trips to Las Vegas, and found fulfillment in running marathons. His quick wit, warm smile, and kind heart made him a joy to be around. Whether sharing a laugh or lending a helping hand, Fernando had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued.

Boyet will also be remembered as a loving father, devoted son, beloved brother, caring uncle, proud grandfather, and loyal friend. He shared a close bond with his siblings, Dr. Joel, Ernesto “Jing,” Eric “Bong,” Marissa, Cecilia, Al Jr. “Alcot,” Grace, and treasured the love and memories they created together throughout their lives. He was a proud uncle who deeply loved his nieces and nephews, always bringing laughter, encouragement, and warmth to family gatherings.

He is survived by his beloved children, Breanna and Madison; his siblings; his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren; extended family; and many dear friends who will miss him deeply and forever cherish his memory.

Though our hearts are heavy with his loss, we find comfort in the legacy he leaves behind, a life defined by kindness, resilience, laughter, and unconditional love. Fernando’s spirit will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched and the family and friends who were blessed to know him.
