

17 year resident of Grand Terrace and 50 year resident of Colton, passed away on August 31, 2014. Born on August 3, 1918, in Highgrove, Ca. Preceded in death by her parents Frances (Trujillo) Walters and Tyrrell (Ted) Carter, her husband of 50 years Chris P. Ruiz, her sister Ruby Snograss, her son-in-law Tim Teague. Mom was a great great granddaughter of Lorenzo Trujillo, founder of Riverside. She was active in PTA and in 1958 received an "Honorary Life Membership" from the Calif. Congress of Parents and Teachers. Mom was the organizer for the Lincoln School Halloween Bazaar's spaghetti and chili dinners for many years. In 1956, the first year of Colton Girl's Softball League (now Carl Rimbaugh Girl's Softball League), Mom was the first president of the league and served for several years. During this time she was appointed to the City of Colton Recreation Commission to help build support for softball fields in the city. Mom was a volunteer for the AARP Tax-Aide program to help prepare tax returns for the senior and low-income citizens. She was also a volunteer for the Literacy Program at the Colton Library to teach English as a second Language. Mom enjoyed dancing at the Colton Dance Club, golfing, watching baseball, softball, and tennis. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. As a young teenager she played on many organized softball teams. Mom touched many lives and will be truly missed. She is survived by her daughters Frances (Ken) Carter, Marcia (Richard) Shipley, Chris Teague, all of Grand Terrace. four grandchildren Randy (Elaine) Carter, of Riverside, Jennifer Carter, of Tarzana, Nicole (Tim) Bourquin, of Laguna Niguel, Shawna (Ray) Brutain, of Yucaipa, seven grandchildren, and the Beebe family, Rocky, Julie, Ryan, Tyler, of Grand Terrace. The Ruiz family would like to thank Sally McGuire from Helping Hands Companions Care, Marissa and Vivian her caregivers, and Chapman Hospice for their kindness and compassion.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 6, at 10:00 a.m., visitation will be Friday, September 5, from 4-7 p.m. at Montecito Memorial Park, Valley View Chapel, 3520 E. Washington St., Colton. Donations. in lieu of flowers, may be made to
