Frances Patricia Saxby

Frances (Fran) Patricia Flanigan/Saxby, of Yucaipa, passed away of natural causes surrounded by her loving family on March 11, 2018 at Cedar Mountain Acute Care Facility. She was born April 20, 1923 in Atlantic City, N.J. She met the love of her life, James Edward Saxby and the happy couple married June 12, 1950 in Belmont Shore, Calif. A graduate of Royal Oak High School in Michigan., Fran then attended the Air Force Academy of Nursing in Michigan in the mid 1940’s. She re-located to California in the late 1940’s. Fran was a devout member of the “Catholic Daughters” St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church for over 25 years and she was a parishioner of Saint Frances for over 30 years. She was a dedicated nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital in Long Beach and St. Bernardine's Hospital in San Bernardino for 53 years. She enjoyed sewing and made most of her children’s clothes. She loved baking pies, singing and listening to a wide variety of music. She loved to travel to visit her children and family in California and Michigan. Fran was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend and will truly be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Saxby and her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sons, James John Saxby of Yucaipa and Paul Joseph Saxby of Moreno Valley; daughters, Patricia Margaret (Bob) Topliff of Desert Hot Springs, Barbara Ellen McClinton of Long Beach, Mary Kathleen (Ken) Elsaesser of Yucaipa, Amy Louise (Jamie) Poston of San Clemente, Carol Rose (Jim) Van Cott of Santa Rosa and Emily Jane (Steve) Rebagliati of Los Altos; 13 grandchildren, Trisha (Adrian), Johnny (Heather), Josh (Melisa), Joey (Julia), Tammy (Vladi), Patrick (Rosie), Eric (Cheryl), Shelly (Josh), Amber (Brian), Josh (Caitlin), John, Chris and Alissa; 19 great grandchildren, Tyler, Bryan, Alysha, Robbie, Brooke, Sara, Julia, J.D., Andrew, Anabell, Nayeli, Houston, Elliot, Dylan, Kelsey, Wyatt, Gwendolyn, Gigi and Carter; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews of Michigan. Services will be held at St. Frances X Cabrini Catholic Church on Thursday, April 5 at 11 a.m. The church is located at 12687 California St. in Yucaipa. An Interment and Life Celebration will follow at Montecito Memorial Park “Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery” at 3520 E. Washington St. in Colton.
