It is with great sadness that the family of George Lum Jr. announces his passing on February 3, 2023. George was born on March 1941 in Loma Linda, California. Graduate of Colton High 1959. George proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserve.
He was a lifetime resident of Colton, California. George Lum Jr. was well known for his kindness and a great smile for all who knew him. He was the last of a generation of men – Honorable, Kind and always a Gentleman.
The last name Lum was well known in the 1940’s for having a popular Supper club in Colton - The El Sombrero. Later the family opened an international restaurant named The Universal Café serving Chinese, Spanish, and American food. Famous for their hamburgers and shakes. Once he established a family, he went on to work for Kaiser Steel and Colton Unified School District.
He leaves behind his love Ruth Cervantes and her sons Tom and Scott, his daughters
Je Ni and Mia as well as his grandchildren, Connor & Kira. He is survived by his brother Raymond Lum.
George enjoyed his retirement years traveling, visiting casinos to see the shows and spending time with family and friends. His favorite pastime was being a foodie and traveling to popular restaurants.
