

his sleep early Thursday morning October 9, 2014. Glen had been suffering from metastatic
melanoma for the past 16 weeks.
Glen first moved to Redlands with his family to the house on Fern Street in 1964. All of
his education was through the Redlands Public School District. Glen was a graduate of
Redlands High School and their first homecoming King. He received his Bachelor of Arts
degree from California State College, San Bernardino, and his teaching credential from
Chapman University.
Mr. Johnson began his teaching career at Redlands East Valley when the school first
opened in 1997. Starting as a history teacher, then as their Video Production teacher/director
where he worked with many talented students. He and his advanced students produced a
weekly television show for the high school. Glen also worked with his wife Kathleen, REV’s
theatre director on productions where he assisted as the technician director. For thirty plus
years he worked with the Redlands Theatre Festival (RTF) in the summer. Glen worked with
RTF as an actor, music director, director and wherever he was needed. His favorite show at
RTF was the musical Forever Plaid. Just this past May, Glen performed with his brother, Steve
Johnson, at the Redlands Footlighters in Pumpboys and Dinettes.
Loved and respected by many, and a big part of the Redlands community, Glen is
preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Dolores Johnson, and nephew, Joseph N. Johnson.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen Johnson, of 27 years, two daughters, Kaitlin Johnson, and
Rachael Johnson, his sister Vivian (Don) Isaak, brothers Joe (Karen) Johnson, and Steven
Johnson along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 25
at 10:30 AM at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 115 W. Olive Ave., Redlands, California; followed
by a memorial celebration of life at 1:00 PM at Redlands East Valley High School’s Blackstone Theatre,
31000 E. Colton Ave., Redlands, California.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Glen's honor to the American Cancer Society.
