Hank was a proud graduate of Pacific High School, Class of 1955. He built a long and meaningful career as a truck driver and was a dedicated Teamster, a role he took great pride in throughout his working life. His work included time with Superior Trucking Company and Tom’s Farms. A man of many interests, Hank loved reading, dancing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. He was an avid book collector and built a personal library of more than 2,000 books, which brought him great joy and pride. Music was also close to his heart. He had a deep love for Mexican music, with Trio Los Panchos being one of his favorites. His all-time favorite song was Sin Ti, and he had a special fondness for the music of the 1950s.
Hank was a man of strong faith and was devoted to his Catholic beliefs throughout his life.
He is survived by his daughter, Katherine Rose Galarza; his granddaughter, Rebecca Ann Mendoza-Cruz, and her husband, John-Richard Cruz; along with more than 30 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Katherine and Lucio Galarza, and his siblings: Lillian King, Lupe DeHaro, Mary Lemos, Betty Marquez, and Frank Galarza.
Hank will be remembered as a hardworking man with a love for the road, a deep appreciation for music and books, and a heart that always made room for family and friends. His stories, laughter, and quiet pride in the life he built will remain with those who knew and loved him.
