

Irene Mary Rigau, age 95, passed away peacefully March 4, 2021 in Watertown, Tennessee due to complications with liver cancer. She was born April 05, 1925 in Cabaiguan, Cuba to Demetrio Mendez and Georgina Jimenez. She moved to the United States in 1956 and married Luis Rigau Toledo, on February 14, 1959 who preceded her in death on October 31, 2007.
Irene graduated from Collegio de Las Antillas in Santa Clara, Cuba and dedicated herself to be a nurse’s aide for over 30 years working at Denver Porter Hospital, Glendale Memorial hospital, and finally at Loma Linda University hospital. In 1956 she moved from Cuba to New Mexico on sponsorship from members of the 7th Day Adventist Church. Later she would move to Denver where she married Luis Rigau and had her first child, Erwin, on July 25 in 1960. On October 29, 1961 she had her second child, Rosalind. Eventually the family would move out to California. Irene became heavily involved with the 7th day Adventist church where she would soon become part of the Dorcas Ministry and would remain faithfully devoted. Her favorite memories were of the times she spent supporting and directing the various church outreach programs and fund raisers over the years. Irene is survived by her daughter, Rosalind Moonier and grandson, Michael Savall
Erwin Luis Rigau
Erwin Luis Rigau, age 58, passed away peacefully at home on April 7, 2020 due to liver cancer. He was born on July 25th, 1960 in Denver, Colorado to Irene Mary Rigau and Luis Rigau.
Erwin Loved to bake. At the age of 14 he was hired as a baker and cake decorator for a small baking business. Though he didn’t carry his love of baking into a long-term career, he never stopped making treats and trying out new recipes over the years. Erwin graduated from Loma Linda Academy in Riverside California in 1978 with honors. Erwin loved languages and after high school chose to move abroad for a year to learn French and study music at The Adventist University of France in Collonges Sous Saleve where he stayed for a year before coming back to California. Back in California, Erwin worked in medical billing for a few years before moving to San Francisco. Erwin lived in San Francisco for nine years working as a manager for All-Aboard storage before transferring to Santa Ana, California. The later part of his life he spent caring for his elderly parents. Erwin is survived by his sister, Rosalind Moonier, and nephew, Michael Savall.
