

His family left Oklahoma about 1940, and moved to California, eventually getting into Edgemont.
At the age of 17 he joined the Merchant Marine traveling the world. One of his first trips was to Marseille, France where her turned 18. He often sailed along and across the Pacific Ocean. He especially liked Japan. He retired in 1969 to take care of son Gerald. He has also worked on two boats, and operated a crane on many jobs.
He has lived in San Pedro, Riverside, Redlands, and Running Springs ending in Prescott, Arizona.
James is survived by his wife Deloras, and three sons: James "Jimmy" Gerald and Jason. Six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, and his brother Gerald Lawson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Patsy, and daughter Susan. His sisters Betty Weded, Vieva Jo Deal and Leonora Woods.
A funeral service for James will be held Monday, August 22, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3520 E Washington St, Colton, CA 92324. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Montecito Memorial Park, 3520 E Washington St, Colton, CA 92324.
