James S. Lucas

Dr. James S Lucas was born in North Carolina on June 6, 1945 to Bunyon and Grace Lucas. He grew up there with his brother Don. After High School he join the Air Force to keep from being drafted for Vietnam. While being stationed at Norton Air Force base in San Bernardino he met and married Dona Essman. They had 2 children: Brian and Troy. After being discharged he enrolled at La Sierra University and majored in theology thinking he was meant to be a pastor. Once completed he felt the Lord leading him to become a dentist to minister to others. He worked as a dentist until a few months before his death. He leaves behind his faithful wife Rummy who was there by his side for the last 10 years of his life. She took care of him day in and day out until the end when he went to be with Jesus. We will miss you, Dad. You were gentle, kind and slow to anger. We love you.

A visitation for James will be held Thursday, November 13, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Montecito Memorial Park & Mortuary, Cypress Chapel, 24145 Barton Road, Loma Linda, California 92354. A funeral service will occur Thursday, November 13, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Cypress Chapel, 24145 Barton Road, Loma Linda, California 92354. A committal service will occur Thursday, November 13, 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Montecito Memorial Park, 3520 E Washington St, Colton, California, 92324.
