Joel is survived by his unified family of:
Parents Jessica (and Aaron), Joey (and Laurie), and sisters Jordan, Justine and Jillian. He has great-grandparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins who will also miss him greatly. Just as important as family, is Joel's friends. From Gladstone Elementary, to Lone Hill Middle School and onto San Dimas High School, Joel made friends who he loved deeply. He fought a courageous battle against AML (Leukemia) with those friends and his family in mind. His favorite thing to do was shoot hoops with his friends, play video games online with them, and to make everyone around him laugh. There were so many ways he made us laugh...
Joel loved debating sports and memorizing stats even from a young age. He had hoped to become a Sports Analyst.
Joel's reflection on eternal life was based on these two Scriptures
Psalm 46:10-11
He says, "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. The LORD Almighty is with us; the God is our safe place."
Romans 8:1-6
Therefore, there is no condemning judgement for those who are in Jesus, because through Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life, has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do, because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son. Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires...the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
Joel practiced being still before the Lord, getting comfortable in His presence, in order to replace fear of death with peace of being with His Savior in Heaven.
