Johnny Ngoc Nguyen, a fishing legend, a dependable brother, a filial son, a loving father, a caring grandfather, a wise uncle, and an extraordinary individual ascended towards the heavens on June 9, 2020 due to a pontine hemorrhage. Johnny was born on July 6, 1965, to Phat Van Nguyen and Bau Thi Truong in Vietnam. Even though he excelled at his studies, growing up during the Vietnam War caused him to mature at a young age resulting in losing the opportunity to enjoy his adolescence by becoming the backbone of his family; however this did not deter him from living his life. He met the love of his life, his soulmate, his partner, his wife, Kim Lan Tran, in San Jose, California in 1984. They would marry in 1989 and within less than a year Johnny would venture into fatherhood when his first son, Phillip Van Tran, was born November 8, 1990. Soon after he would also begin working at Herrick Steel as an entry level worker. Without a degree he relied on his creative mindset to propel him up the ranks becoming a machine operator and landing himself a position in the company’s safety team. As Johnny aged he welcomed two more sons, Alan Tran and Andy Nguyen, both he loved dearly. Johnny was known as a genius without the knowledge or degree by his family members and friends. He will always be remembered by: his love of fishing, his love of gardening, his love of singing, his love of working at Herrick Steel, but most importantly his love to us will never be forgotten.
