OBITUARY

Judith Lee Sturm

Judith “Judie” L. Sturm passed away peacefully at home on June 28, 2020.

Judie was born in La Junta Colorado, to Carroll and Imogene Trimble and grew up in Norwalk and San Bernardino, CA.

She married her husband, Bill, on Jan. 30, 1965. They lived in Cucamonga until they moved to Yucaipa in 1984. Judie and Bill were parishioners at St. Frances X. Cabrini Church. Judie received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from San Jose State University in 1965 and she earned her Master’s Degree from California State University San Bernardino in 1976. She began her teaching career with the Central School District in 1968 and retired from the Rialto Unified School District in June of 2001.

Judie lived a life of service and volunteering, always willing to reach out to help others. She and her husband were active in Marriage Encounter for over 35 years, giving over 100 weekends and leading marriage preparation classes through the Church. Also, after her retirement, she volunteered with the Rialto Unified School District teaching special needs students to read.

She was wholly devoted to her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill, of 52 years, and is survived by her brother, Robert “Bob” Trimble and wife Sarah Trimble, her two daughters, Carol Stairs and Lynna Monell, Lynna’s husband Aaron Monell, five grandchildren, Alyssa Monell, Kaitlynne Monell, Ryan Stairs, Emily Monell, Lauren Stairs, one step grandchild, Trevor Stairs, and one great grandchild, Orion Stairs.

Memorial contributions may be made in Judie’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Benevolent Animal Rescue Committee, BARC Pet Foundation, PO Box CD, Cherry Valley, CA 92223.

Judie’s celebration of life will be on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis X. Cabrini Catholic Church at 12689 California St. in Yucaipa. The service will also be live streamed at http://stfrancesxcabrinichurch.org/.
