June Dulin was born Thelma Lee June Bennett in Glendale, California to parents, Austin (Ben) and Sarah “Ellen” Bennett on July 15, 1938. Her family consisted of her older sister's Wilma Joan, and Velma Jean, along with her younger brother Joseph (Joe). As you can imagine with first names such as Wilma, Velma, and Thelma, all three sisters went by their middle names, Joan, Jean, and June. When she was 9, her family moved to Devore, California. For a while, her sister Joan and her dad, Ben, did not move to Devore, because Joan was in the hospital with rheumatic fever. June lost her brother Joe to cancer when he was 19.
June came to love Devore and always said she was a "Country Girl" at heart. She graduated from Pacific High School in San Bernardino, with honors and attended San Bernardino Valley College, where she met her husband, Doug Dulin. During this time, she worked at Pacific Telephone as a Supervisor and Doug Dulin worked as a bridge engineer for Caltrans. It was while inspecting the 15-freeway bridge in Lytle Creek that he fell inside a bridge pier and injured his back, this caused him to change his career to become a Real Estate Broker. June and Doug raised five children, Dawn, Diann, Dan, Dene' and Deidra.
June was always busy raising her five children. She became a 4-H Leader, served on the Boy Scout Council and remained active in the LDS Church. When June became single again, she ran Dulin Family Child Care for 12 years. During this time (1980-1990), June earned her bachelor’s degree and teaching credentials from Redlands University. She was honored in Who's Who in American Teachers, 2005-2006.
June believed in hard work and was a critical thinker and not shy about speaking her mind. She really enjoyed teaching and being around children in the classroom. She genuinely cared about her students and went the extra mile to make sure they understood the lessons.
June passed away peacefully on February 24, 2020. She is survived by her 5 children, Dawn Dickerson, Diann Dulin, Dan Dulin, Dene' Crandall, and Deidra Dulin and her grandchildren, Dulin Dickerson, Delaney Dulin, Daniel Dulin, Micaela Garcia, Cole Crandall, Hannah Crandall, and Ben Dulin. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Austin Bennett, Sarah Bennett, Joan Staples, Jeanne Hudson, and Joe Bennett.
Her memorial service is at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints chapel located at 3860 Waterman Avenue, San Bernardino, 92404.
