

Karla Kimberly Brown was known for her memorable smile, effortless style, red lipstick, red nails and her infectiously loud laugh. Karla was quick witted, someone who brought joy and laughter to anyone around her. Her heart was pure; to know Karla, was to love Karla. She made sure you knew it was Karla with a “K” or “KB.” She left her mark, displayed unconditional love, and had a beautiful spirit that will always be remembered and missed. Karla was the eldest daughter to Orville Brown and Cheryl Butler Brown. She was born on August 18, 1967 in Kansas City, Kansas. Around theage of four, she relocated with her family to San Bernardino, CA. Karla attended Myers Elementary, Frisbee Middle School and graduated in 1985 from Eisenhower High School. She grew up playing sports, was part of the drill team, ran track and played softball. She was a known Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Lakers fan and had the pleasure of celebrating both teams win a championship this past year. Karla is the mother of Anthony Wheat, Brehanna Rodrigues and her bonus son Donald Holmes Jr. Along with two of her sisters, Karla raised her children in the Inland Empire, coached her daughter’s and niece’s first softball team, and helped pave the way for their athletic careers. In her professional life, she assisted in caring for the elderly and worked at Power Insurance Company and California Budget Finance. Karla attended Loveland Church and was later baptized at Ecclesia Christian Fellowship Church. Karla enjoyed a good party, dancing, skating, bowling, sports, game shows, going out to eat and spending time with her loved ones. Karla passed away at her mother’s home in Birmingham, AL on December 15, 2020 surrounded by her family. Karla battled a diagnosis of brain cancer with a resolute prognosis of six months left to enjoy life. However, as the strong individual Karla was known to be, she fought to witness and enjoy an abundance of milestones and celebrations with loved ones. She leaves to mourn her passing her parents: Orville and Gloria Brown, Cheryl and Robert King; children: Anthony Wheat, Brehanna Rodrigues, Donald Holmes Jr.; grandchildren: Qini, Qishun, Wisdom, Anthony Jr., Cherish, Guidance, Charlie; siblings: Camille Massey, Candace Clark, Twyia Ponce, Stephen Hanson-Brown; stepsisters: Tamela Graham, Michelle Olea, Tunisia Johnson; a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
