a lovely things about the longo family was, friend of one  longo meant you become a family member.  i cherish being a longo!  
my last memory of larry was a couple years ago, and he was out pruning the hedges, after the yard crew was done.  it just wasn't to his standards.   celeste and i had our chat, and shared a cup of coffee with him.  and he was back at the pruning.  
larry, you will be missed.  i will try to live up to the "longo" standards, now a family member!!  xoxo, terre

Our Father was a kind and inquisitive man who loved his work.  He spent his lifetime reading and had a passion for collecting rare books on the history of medicine and reproductive science. He was an advocate for preserving women's freedom of choice for future generations and devoted his life to serving the greater good.

Larry was a wonderful person and an outstanding role model for generation of investigators interested in the biology of pregnancy. He was a true scholar, a physician with an unshakable commitment to women's health, an exceptional mentor and a real gentleman. There is little doubt that he enriched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him and that he represents the type of person many of us have tried to emulate during our careers.  I am saddened to learn of his death and extend my sincere sympathy to his family.

The world has lost someone and something very valuable! 

Dr. Longo was certainly one of the bright lights in our profession, and besides just a profoundly wonderful human being (and, a mentor beyond compare). 

I am very fortunate to have gotten to know him and to work with him over the last 10 years - one of the very highlights of my career! Our book (Longo, Lawrence D. and Reynolds, Lawrence P., Wombs with a View: Illustrations of the Gravid Uterus from the Renaissance through the 19th Century, New York: Springer, 2016 - in press) is what we jokingly called The Great Book, and what he termed his Magnum Opus (Great Work). I am planning to put a Dedication to Dr. Longo at the front of the book.

 I will miss him very much as I know many others will as well!
