Bishop Lenton H. Lenoir was born on May 4, 1930 to Zemmar Lenoir and Bertha Courothers Lenoir in Prairie, MS. He was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost in 1946 at the age of 15. Every since that day, he has devoted himself to the uplifting and the building of God’s kingdom. He has served in the Grand Ole Church of God in Christ in many capacities.
Bishop Lenoir was called to the ministry and later licensed and ordained to preach. In 1964 he was called to pastor and established New Hope Church of God in Christ in April 1964. God directed Pastor Lenoir to a facility located at 1024 N. “G” Street in San Bernardino. When God directed Bishop Lenoir to this facility, he also spoke to him about a name change for the church. Subsequently, New Hope Church of God in Christ became Holy Land Church of God in Christ. Services began on Sunday Morning at 11:00 am on February 28, 1999.
He completed his education at Mary Home Jr. College in West Point, MS. Bishop Lenoir has been an outspoken voice on civil rights and equality issues. Civic and business leaders sought his wisdom and advice in various areas. He is known for his compassion, loyalty, integrity, and faithfulness to the Word of God.
Bishop Lenoir had many firsts. He was the first to have a banquet in the COGIC in the San Bernardino Region; the first to pastor two churches, he established the first ministerial alliance in the greater San Bernardino area; the first to establish an educational scholarship program for the San Bernardino Region, and the list goes on.
Bishop Lenton H. Lenoir is a visionary, a Holy Ghost filled man of God, an anointed preacher, teacher and evangelist, a bible-based pastor, and a man of impeccable moral character. He is a renowned Evangelist, who has traveled extensively throughout the country holding revivals in churches, tent services, parks, and stadiums. God has anointed him with a healing and deliverance ministry; people come near and far for him to pray the prayer of healing and deliverance on their lives.
God taught Bishop Lenoir how to utilize his ability to support his family and himself. He was an entrepreneur who owned and operated a successful business for many years: the ‘Lenoir Brother’s Disposal Service in San Bernardino, California, along with his brother Zemmar Lenoir, Jr.
Bishop Lenoir was married to Lady Evangelist Wanda D. Lenoir. They were married on February 16, 2008 and loved traveling, enjoyed life, and worked together in ministry for twelve years. Lady Wanda is a woman of faith and supported the ministry, her husband, and worked with him in his healing ministry. They show patience and gave encouragement and was available to help no matter the time of day.
Bishop Lenton H. Lenoir is survived by his wife, Lady Evangelist Wanda D. Lenoir, His sisters, Erma Broyles and Annie May Gray; his sister in law, Doris Lenoir; a brother, Sherman Lenoir; Godsons, Eric Biggers (Gail), Michael Biggers (Betty), Derrick Biggers, Terry Biggers, Stacy Robertson (D’Antoinette); Goddaughters, Michelle Biggers-Butler (Eddie), Traci Biggers, and Satryna Walker; a host of nephews, nieces, Sons in the Gospel, Holy Land Church Family, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his late wife, Josephine D Lenoir, his daughters, Erma Lenoir and Dr. LinDon D. Lenoir, his granddaughter, Kinisha Garrett, his father, Zemmar Lenoir; his mother Bertha Courothers-Lenoir, his brothers, Zemmar Lenoir Jr., Paul Lenoir, Simuel Lenoir, Joe Hayes; and his sisters, Myrtle L. Hayes, Virginia Lewis
Services for Bishop will be at 10:00am on Monday, November 30, 2020 at the Montecito Mortuary tent area and will be laid to rest thereafter both at Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3520 E. Washington Street, Colton, California
