OBITUARY

Manuel Gonzales Rivas

March 29, 1938August 19, 2020

Manuel Gonzalez Rivas was born on March 29, 1938 in Socorro, Texas. He was the second child of Crecensio Rivas from Jalisco, Mexico and Maria Luz Gonzalez from Zacatecas, Mexico.

He was only a child when his father passed away. He grew up in Texas with his mother, Maria Luz; brother, Pablo and sister, Celia. They worked hard together to provide and looked out for each other during difficult times. The family migrated to California because of farming opportunities in the west.

As a confident and ambitious young adult, he took the risk of opening his first business. Through the years, his entrepreneur spirit led him to open numerous successful businesses including a bar, a bakery, a restaurant and a food truck catering co.

Those who knew him would say he had a strong personality. He enjoyed talking to others but was very blunt and always spoke the truth. After a hard day’s work, he enjoyed drinking a Miller Lite and laughing with his Mariquita (Maria), family and friends.

In times of need, everyone knew they could count on him. He always had their best interest at heart and was glad to offer advice and a helping hand.

He will be dearly missed by his family including his children Manuel (Midget), Peter (Fuzzy Head), Guadalupe, Rosa, Manuel (Cheapskate), Lupe (Lupita), Carolina, Martha, Javier (Gabicho), Yolanda (Joji, Flaca) and Susana (Tuti). He is now reunited with his departed son Alejandro.

Manuel’s life has impacted many others. In his later years, he helped raise and developed a close bond with three of his grandchildren David (Crockett), Damian (Machetes) and Makayla (Cailita). His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him. He will always remain in our hearts. ____________________________________________________________________________________

I will always appreciate the ambition and strength that he showed.

He always wanted others to not only be taken care of, but also have the skill to take care of themselves.

He loved his family more than anything else in this world, and he has his legacy to show for it. A great man who made an amazing impact to everyone he knew.

I’m thankful to have known of his story and to see his beautiful family carry on the pride and strength that he was well known to have.

In this respect I believe his spirit lives on through everyone he has met. I’m so very thankful to of known about him.
