Lino is survived by his wife, Lita; children, Marc and daughter-in law, Grethel, Mary Ann and son-in-law, Robert, and Matthew and daughter-in-law, Leslie; grandchildren, Marty, Bryce, Bailey, Ethan, Dominick and Isabella; siblings, Phil, Sonia, Jack and Lynne; siblings-in-law, Rolando and Sonia Cruz, Herminia and Teddy Dalistan, Normita and Danny Perez, Venerando and Thess Cruz, and dozens of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was also an incredibly pious example to 32 godchildren, Dr. John Yasmer and Dr. Maudy Kalangie, Michael Yasmer, Dr. Monik Dionisio, Robert Vega, Edna Alva, Ed and Mia David, Heidi and Marco Carrillo, Matthew Salvador, Relly and Jaimie Perez, June Baldeo, Ernie and Edith Nepomuceno, Terry and Eva Tan, Bryan and Marjorie Lopez, Sol and Aida Baldeo, Kim and Norma Gorospe, Solomon Baldeo Jr., Anthonette and Sean Menasco, Jessica Cruz Morales, Cheryl Guanio Cruse, Jun and Jasmine Perero, and Rian Bautista. Lino was born in Zamboanga, Philippines, January 24, 1941, and attended Far Eastern University where he was known as a scrappy basketball player. On January 30, 1966, he married Lita. They later welcomed three bright and determined children, Marc, Mary Ann and Matthew. He worked as a carman in the railroad industry, including Santa Fe and Amtrak, for 35 years. He retired in 2007.
He was a doting grandfather, often found at sporting events, extracurricular activities and academic ceremonies rooting for and glowing with pride as one of his grandkids’ biggest fans. Until the last few years, when his health no longer allowed it, Lino was active in supporting and sponsoring religious celebrations at several Catholic churches. It was through these activities, that he came to know and touch so many of his brothers and sisters in Christ, leaving a legacy as a God-serving, humble, kind and selfless man.
A visitation for Lino will be held Monday, June 5, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Montecito Valley View Chapel, 3520 E Washington St, Colton, CA 92324.
