I have known Maria and worked with her for almost 20 year and it has been an honor. Maria was a beautiful person inside and out and a truly good friend. She was a dedicated teacher, always looking out for what was in the best interest of the preschool children she served. My condolences to all of Maria's family members whom she loved dearly. Maria you will always be missed. Love Bridget Gonzales

My Tia Carmen and Madrina,
I was blessed to have had an upbringing with Carmen in my life and the life of my children. Many cherished and loving memories with her in Boyle Heights as well as San Bernardino. I will miss your smiles and laughter. Always with love, your niece Cristi.

Words can not describe the beautiful life and person that was my aunt Carmen. Many of my childhood memories include her wonderful smile, laugh and good times with coffee. I was privileged to share the majority of my life with her constant presence. Whether we were just playing loteria or running to the casino. She will forever be in my heart and memories. I know that she is heaven smiling down on all of us. We will watch over your family, tia Carmen, just like you always did. I love you so very much and will miss you dearly. - Patita as she so dearly called me.

My name is Socorra Gutierrez and I worked with Maria Acevedo for over 12 years as her Harmon Enrollment Clerk. She was a great Teacher and cared for her students, parents & co workers. We worked as a team when it came to dealing with preschool work. I will miss her dearly and I am sure that her other co workers, students, staff and parents will miss her too. Maria, you are in a better place now and not in pain anymore.

My beloved Tia Carmen - I will always remember her warming smile and enthusiasm for life from the little things like nicknames for her nieces to the big, hosting parties at her home in San Bernie. I know she is loving her family from heaven and her spirit will live on in her children and grandchildren. With love - your niece, Sonia.

My name is Peggy Stettler and I worked with Ms.Acevedo for a little over 4 years at Harmon--I was her aide. We use to talk a lot about our families and what we did on the weekends. I am truly going to miss her, she was more than my boss she was my friend. Work just won't be the same without her. To all of her family--especially her mom--I am so sorry for your loss.(I am sure she is at some dance in Heaven having a great time.)
