Grey was born in Alamogordo, NM on New Year’s Day 1923. While still very young, the family moved to Patagonia, Arizona where he finished high school and had to choose between a life in professional rodeo or college. School (and Granny) won that one. While attending La Sierra College in Riverside, California, he met Marti, the love of his life and they were married on August 20, 1942.
He taught and was principal in the Adventist school system including Visalia, Arcata, Sacramento and Loma Linda. In 1969, he accepted a call to pastor two churches in Perris and Lake Elsinore. Later he transferred to congregations in Encinitas, Corona, Norco and finally Hemet, retiring in 1985 to the family home in Patagonia, where he and Marti lived until just before her passing in 1997.
Grey was preceded in death by his daughter Shirley. He is survived by his sons and daughter, David; Susan and her husband Ed Rotan and Gary and his wife Lori, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, nine nieces and nephews, innumerable friends and even more whose lives he touched.
