Grandma LaLa,  to me you will always be my Grandma LaLa.  I will always have you in my heart and Memories.  You were always so kind and lovable to me when I came to visit you.  As a child and teenager to an adult you always treated me like gold.  Your voice was unique and I enjoyed hearing you speak and laugh.  I remember seeing you at Fedco shopping for groceries sometimes.  you always would give me a hug and kiss making me feel special.  Grandma I'm happy I had the opportunity to spend time with you not to long ago when you were still at home.  You were showing me and my finance Delmy your new Coach purses and telling us how Peter boy was a good football player.  You always would tell me how much I look like my Dad, in fact I get that alot from everyone especially now that I'm an old man myself.  I know you are with my Dad and Grandpa now which gives me comfort.  You are forever a part of my heart and your memory lives in me.  May you rejoice, in the presence of the Lord. Aunt Louisa,
You were always an important close special aunt and mentor in my life. When I lost my mother at the age of 12 you took me in and fulfilled my void as a labor of love to my Mom and your sister Mercy. I not only had you I also has Aunt Jo and Aunt Ramona too.
When I lived with you and Uncle Peter you both welcomed me and tried to make up for my loss by giving me guidance and support throughout trying times . Peter Boy and Kenny were like brothers to me and also their wife's helped and we shared special memories throughout our lives. I remember you guided me to my first job ar Lou Millers and that was a blast. You were well liked by everyone there because of your wit, humor and crazy personality. Whenever I would call you I would ask What are you doing? And you would reply "talking to you". Every Christmas I will remember your holiday spirit throughout your home and you were The Queen of Tamales!!! Your cooking was the best and you were proud when you hosted dinners for us all because we all knew how good everything was. Aunt Louisa its sad to lose you but I feel comfort knowing your in a glorious place having the best family reunion ever with everyone who has gone before us. I can only imagine the laughter and sharing that is going on. God bless you and know I will always love and never forget you.

Louisa, I met you when I was 17 years. At that time I met an amazing woman who captured my heart. I remember watching you cook your wonderful meals and how much love you put into them.  I have tried fixing your tacos but they would never compare to yours. I also admired how you loved your family and especially your mother as we all knew her as "AMA" and your siblings. I remember you stopping at the house to see the boys Mike and Chris after work.  The boys would get all excited they both loved you and Grandpa Peter very much. I will never forget the last time I visited you, I took your frail hands and looked straight into your eyes.  I knew you were leaving us soon to go into the arms of our Savior. Here 48 years later I still have you and Grandpa Peter in my heart. I will not say goodbye, but we shall meet again.

My Aunt Louisa, My Godmother, My Other Mom,

As far back as I can remember you were there for me... I truly believe that I wouldn't be here on this earth at all right now if you hadn't walked into the room I was sleeping in, when I was just a baby, and noticed that I was already turning blue in my face and rushed me to the hospital! You also came to my rescue when my marriage fell apart and I didn't know what to do or where to go! You and Uncle Peter took me in with no questions asked or without hesitation. It can't be easy to take into your home more responsibility but you did it over & over again for numerous family members. My situation was also compounded by the fact that I was a package deal, bringing with me my 2 year old daughter Alicia, who you allowed to grow up calling you "Grandma" without ever correcting her about it! You taught me a lot while I lived with you like how to be a strong & independent person, the love of shopping at Nordstrom and you even tried to teach me how to cook but with my suggestions about "why make tortillas when you can buy them at the store" made me laugh with the look you would give me! My all time favorite dinner of yours were your 'Enchiladas!' You always made them from scratch and to this day, even at restaurants, I've never had better then yours!!
When the Lord calls our loved ones home, he leaves us with the gift of memories in exchange. With your sense of humor and the countless & selfless acts of love you have given our families throughout the years, I will happily share with future generations the lifetime of memories that I will cherish forever! 
With Uncle Peter again by your side I truly believe the phrase you used, so many times in the past, is now a powerful statement... "Vámonos Pedro"   May you both rest in peace, All My Love... Irene

Luisa, my beautiful sister:  I have so many wonderful memories of our large family of eight, growing up as children with very few luxuries, but always with plenty of the basic needs:  good food, a clean, warm and loving home and honest, hard-working, reliable and loving parents who loved us deeply.  Early in our lives, Mom and Dad instilled in all of us, to be a close-knit family,and to be respectful of one another.  Family unity was of great importance to them. Your son, Peter Boy, the oldest of the two sons you had, was the very first grandson in our large family.  Two years later, you had your last baby, Kenny.  Sadly, in 1997, Kenny died of cancer in his early 40s.  He was survived by his wife and five of your seven grandchildren.  His untimely death left a hole in your heart and Peter's, that both of you were never able to mend.  Life went on for you, but, it was never really the same for any of us.  I am two years older than you, so we always had a very close relationship. Our husbands were good friends and very compatible, so we socialized frequently.  Over the years, we took numerous out-of-town trips, and did so many other fun things together.  When both our parents passed away, it left an immense void that we have never fully recovered from.  Sadly, we have lost many members of our beloved family, including Peter, your husband of 65 years, who passed away six months ago.  You were the third born in our family, and now with your own passing, there are only two of us left:  Ramona, the oldest,and I, the second born. With Ramona's very frail health, and with your passing, I feel absolutely desolate.  God, in his infinite wisdom, has determined that you should now rest at peace from the constant pain of rheumatoid arthritis and the complications of dementia.  I'm going to miss you terribly, Luisa, and so will all your grandchildren, great-grandchildren,nieces, nephews, and most particularly, your son, Peter Boy.  Rejoice in God's kingdom with all the members of our beloved family that are awaiting you in Heaven with open arms.  We all loved you dearly, and you will remain in our hearts and minds forever. Aunt Louisa you will be truly missed my favorite memories of you and uncle Peter is when I would always want to stay at your house and I never lasted the night my dad always had to go get me because I wouldn't stop crying. I never, in my life, thought that you would have left this earth,  before My Mother.  On behalf of the Colunga family, we are deeply sadden to have lost a very Special Aunt in our lives.  You have been apart of of us, up until the last couple of years of  your life as your health began to decline. We will never forget your phone calls to come over for dinner because you were making chile con carne and stacks of homies... Your famous tostadas with avocados and onions and your fideo made with fresh tomatoes. It was SO GOOD like no other. You always opened up your home and made us feel welcomed as if we were your own children. You taught me to be who I am today Aunt Louisa and for that you will always be in my heart.  Your appreciation for the better things in life is what I also admired about you. Working hard, looking your best, and keeping an immaculate place to live.  Apa said it best "La Misses Clean".  We will never forget all our backyard get togethers, that we shared as a family of unity the way Ama and Apa taught us.  Our family is dwindling down to just a few. My Mom Ramona and Our Aunt Josie are  the only ones left.. But That is the circle of life... May you lead the way along with our other  loved ones that have gone before us... Until we meet again we love you from the bottom of our hearts and may perpetual light shine upon you. May u rest in Peace.

Some of my fondest childhood memories include you Uncle Peter and the boys with their families. Whether to the lake fishing for the day or the river for the week the company was enjoyable and your cooking always got an A+. Just like an Alvarez. Your chili con carne was my favorite! 
  
I remember when I started working at the county I was worried because you couldn't wait to retire, so I wanted to see what it was that I had gotten myself into.  I called you and asked what was it about the county you didn't like. Your response, "I loved my job, it was getting up in the morning that I hated." I loved that about you. Your sense of humor and quick wit another Alvarez trait and as always you got an A+. 
 
I am so fortunate to have had you in my life. You taught me to the value of family from childhood to adulthood you have been a part of my life. May Gods eternal light shine upon you.

Louisa, I was a new mommy when I met you, my son is now 27 years old, that is how long I have known you.  Its been an honor to know such a wonderful person, who had me laugh on my worst days and moments.  I will never forget your friendship and warm personality.  I remember you cooking for our entire MCH staff-Club Med, those where great memories that I will always treasure.  I will truly miss you.
