Mary grew up in Marshall, Illinois, before making San Bernardino, California, her home for the last 50 years of her life. Throughout her journey, she built a life centered on the things that mattered most to her: her faith, her family, and the simple joys that made each day special.
Mary deeply valued her religion, and her faith was an important part of her life. She found joy and comfort in her beliefs, which helped shape the woman she was and the love she gave to those around her. She also had a special love for tending to her beautiful rose garden. Like the roses she lovingly cared for, Mary brought beauty, warmth, and love into the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.
Her greatest treasures were her family, particularly her three children: Lawrence Wade Pennell and his wife, Rebecca Pennell; Johanna Lee Strimpel and her husband, Daniel Strimpel; and William Andrew Pennell and his wife, Jennifer Pennell.
Mary took immense pride in her six grandchildren, whom she adored and doted on: Lauren Cosgrove, Larissa Pennell, Thomas Strimpel, Nathan Strimpel, Nolan Strimpel, and Andrew Pennell. Her love for her family grew even sweeter with the arrival of her great-granddaughter, Riley Cosgrove, who brought another special joy to her life.
Mary’s love for her family, devotion to her faith, and appreciation for the beauty of God’s creation were lasting reflections of who she was. Though her passing leaves a deep ache in the hearts of those who loved her, the memories she created, the lessons she shared, and the love she gave will remain forever.
May she rest in the peace of God’s loving embrace.
