

Neva Joy Miller; Beloved wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt and Grandmother; passed away peacefully on March 19,2020 at the age of 87. Neva was born in Baileyboro Texas to Clifford and Opal (Blackshear) Wallis; the third of four children whom raised in Portales New Mexico, surrounded by many beloved cousins whom Neva cherished and missed deeply when her family moved to California in the fall of 1948. Neva graduated from Redlands Senior High School in 1950,, then completed two years of business courses at San Bernardino Valley College which included typing and shorthand.
Neva met Army Private Kenneth Miller her senior year, the two were dating when he shipped out of Long Beach Harbor to Honolulu Hawaii where he was stationed for twenty two months, long before the island was a tourist paradise. On November 21, 1952 Neva and Kenneth were married in a small private ceremony attended by immediate family members in East Highland. The newlyweds were eager to begin their life together, they settled into a very tiny bungalow that was secluded within a delicious apple orchard in Oak Glen, where the couple resided and worked together as orchard caretakers for almost to years before the birth of son Jerry and moved to Redlands in 1954. When daughter Sandy arrived in 1956 Neva and Kenneth were Highland Homeowners, Susie was born five years later. Neva and Kenneth were married for fifty six years and blessed with 3 children, 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Neva and Kenneth love fishing, camping, boating and spending time with family, near and far. Kenny passed in 2008.
Neva worked for the Redlands Unified School District in the Accounts Payable Department for thirty one years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Highland Church of Christ; Highland Ouilters Club; past President and member of the Highlands Women's Club and PTA member of Cram Elementary and Arroyo Verde Elementary schools over a period of four decades. Neva loved to sew, knit, cook and swim; she enjoyed several years of water aerobics at the Highland YMCA pool and never missed the televised Little League Baseball Championship games each spring.
Preceded in death by parents Clifford and Opal, Husband Kenneth, Brother Tex, Sister Patsy, and her beloved grandniece Hope. Survived by son Jerry (Carol) Miller of Cayce South Carolina; daughter Sandy (Craig) Scofield of Louisville Kentucky, daughter Susie (Tom) Villalpando of Highland California; very beloved younger sister Reta Dees of Rescue California; and by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends whom all love and miss her, to the moon and back.
Due to Covid-19 global restrictions of a Celebration of Life to honor Neva will be planned at a later date for Family and Friends to hug and share memories of a life well lived.
