Opal L. Wehnes

Opal L. Wehnes, age 91, a resident of Yucaipa, formerly of San Bernardino, passed away on July 9th, 2010 at San Gorgonio Hospital.She was born in Great Bend, Kansas in 1918 and lived there till she met her husband Glen Wehnes who was playing in a band. After they married, they moved to Oklahoma where they had twins, Roy Lee and Joy Marie, after a couple of years they moved to the state of Washington for a while and finally settled down in San Bernardino.

Opal worked for the Harris Co. in the receiving office for over 10 years until she retired.

Opals Greatest moments were being with her brothers and sisters and all the children for the many family get together's. Her family was her greatest joy.

Opal is survived by her son Roy Lee Wehnes, daughter Joy marie Thomas, both of Yucaipa; one sister, Helen Mae Walker of Spokane, WA., three grand children; Jerry Williams, (Sylvia) of Washington, Keith Williams (Terri) of Yucaipa, Lisa Marquez (Anthony) of Galt,, two great grand children; Cera of Fontana and Isabella of Galt, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Glen, her parents Ernest and Verda Coffee, six brothers Carl, Ernest, Audrey, Lawrence, Kendal and Deverna Coffee; four sisters Clovis Sullivan, Yvonne Sherwood, Delores Parmele and Carmetta Lollar.

Viewing will be on Tuesday July 20th from 4PM to 8PM with services to be held Wednesday July 21st at 10 AM at Montecito Memorial Park, Colton, CA.
