On November, 28, 1935, Satish Chandra and Kusum Dewri had their second son Ranjit Dewri in Barisal, British India. In his younger years he attended Jalirpar School, he then moved on to Falakata Mission School, and later on attended Spicer Memorial College in Prune. In 1959 he began working at Oriental Watchman Publishing House where he continued to work at for 21 years. While working at Publishing House he found the love of his life Nalini Khajekar, who is the fifth daughter of nine children. On March 28, 1962 Ranjit and Nalini got married. Soon after they were blessed with three children Lillian, Dennis, and Alvina. In July 1978 Ranjit came to America and a year and a half later he and his family migrated to Texas, USA on January 23, 1980. In Weslaco, Texas, Ranjit worked at HEB for 24 years and retired February 2004. Over the years he was blessed with six grandchildren. He was very fond of his grandchildren and would travel to visit with them every chance he and Nalini got. Ranjit was very God fearing and actively involved in Weslaco SDA Church. Over the years he made many lifelong friends of all the ages that continued to keep in touch with him. His sense of humor attracted young and old, and his nurturing nature made those around him feel comfortable. Ranjit had a passion for gardening, his backyard consisted of drumstick, bitter gourd, papayas, custard apple, and curry leaves. On May 8, 2016 Ranjit Dewri had a massive stroke and was brought to Southern California to be closer to his children. For four years Ranjit's resilience allowed him to overcome many obstacles and through it all he showed his strength and courage. Nalini, his wife stood by his side taking care of him through it all. As of March 2020 they were married for 58 years. On July 14, 2020, Ranjit Dewri passed to his rest at Loma Linda University Medical Center, California. Ranjit Dewri left behind a legacy of love, devotion, and humbleness. He taught his wife, children and grandchildren the meaning of selflessness and it reflected in all his actions. He will be greatly missed by his siblings, children, grandchildren, and most of all his loving and devoted wife. He was an amazing man and fought a good fight.
