August 5, 1951 – January 14, 2025
Raul Enriquez Gutierrez, lovingly known as “Tulie,” passed away on January 14, 2025, at the age of 73, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Born on August 5, 1951, in Whittier, California to Raul and Maria Gutierrez. Tulie lived a life as big as his heart. He spent his later years in Highland, California, surrounded by the family he cherished.
Tulie is survived by his devoted wife, Lucille Gutierrez; his children Raul Jr. (Angie), Lydia (Ruben), Angelica (Tony), Joanna; and his cherished grandchildren: Ruben, Jakob,Frankie, Joseph, Daniel, Alicia, Tony, Marissa, Valarie, and Lexi. He was immensely proud of all his grandchildren, always ready with a laugh or a story that made them feel like the most important people in the world.
As the eldest of ten siblings, Tulie was a natural leader and protector. He is survived by his brothers and sisters: Robert, Ronnie, Rebecca, † Roy, Renee, Ramiro, Rose, Ralph, and Romelia. Being the oldest, he set the example for his family, combining strength, wisdom, and humor in a way that made everyone look up to him.
For 42 years, Tulie ruled the roads as a truck driver, earning respect as a “Baddest trucker.” But his talents didn’t stop there—he was also one of the lead singers of The Sacrifice Band, where he brought crowds to life with his voice and rhythm. Starting as a drummer, moving to the congas, and ultimately taking center stage, Tulie’s passion for music lit up every room he walked into.
Tulie’s heart was his family. As the proud dad of one son and three daughters, he embodied what it meant to be both a loving “girl dad” and an unwavering role model to his son. He was his daughters’ biggest fan and protector, always ready with a joke or song to make them laugh. And when it came to his son, Raul Jr., Tulie couldn’t have been prouder of the man he raised.
Whether he was camping with family, telling jokes, making up songs, or simply lighting up a room with his laughter, Tulie was the coolest man you could ever meet. Every grandchild wanted to be the lucky one to hit the road with Grandpa, riding shotgun and soaking up his larger-than-life stories.
A celebration of Tulie’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, with a viewing from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a Rosary and Burial from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and a reception to follow.
As Tulie always said, “I’ll be around here somewhere.” His love, laughter, and music will echo forever in the hearts of his family and friends. Rest easy, Tulie—you were one of a kind.
